An Honest Review of the PMD Personal Microderm PRO
If you’re a skincare fanatic, chances are you’ve heard of the benefits of microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion is an exfoliation and skin rejuvenation procedure that leaves your skin looking softer and brighter almost instantly. A professional microdermabrasion treatment at a spa can set you back $100+ per session. Although I highly endorse receiving professional treatments for your skin, splurging on a treatment that is $100+ per session isn’t feasible for most.
Thankfully, there is a budget-friendly option that rivals professional treatment for a fraction of the cost. Personal Microderm (PMD) is an at-home skincare tool that fades the appearance of blemishes, dark spots, enlarged pores, fine lines and wrinkles, and evens out skin tone and texture. The PMD uses a combination of patented spinning discs embedded with aluminum oxide crystals and vacuum suction to remove dead skin and increase circulation.
Out of a panel of 30 women, 100% of women said their skin was softer after using the Personal Microderm, and 95% said they felt more confident in their skin after using this product. I can COMPLETELY attest to these results. I yelled at Matt to come feel how baby-soft my skin was after my first treatment because I could not believe the results!
The PMD Beauty team was kind enough to send me a Personal Microderm PRO to test out in honor of their NINTH BIRTHDAY! I have been eyeing this product for over a year now contemplating whether or not it was worth the investment, and I can now confidently say, IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY! There are four Personal Microderm tools ranging in price from $159 to $199: Classic, Plus, Pro and Man. Although these prices may first seem steep, remember one professional treatment will put you out $100+ and these devices can be used repeatedly!
If you’re new to the blog, you probably aren’t aware that I have struggled with acne ever since middle school. It began with just a few pimples here and there in fifth grade that quickly escalated to full-on inflamed acne by sixth. Once I finally got the inflamed acne under control, I was faced with an entirely new problem, acne scars. I’ve spent the past 6 or 7 years fighting these scars and the less-than-ideal skin complexion my flare-ups left behind.
Through my research on good skin etiquette and skin care treatments to combat acne, I learned about the vital role collagen plays in combating acne. It was my research on collagen that led me to the Personal Microderm. The Personal Microderm increases cell turnover and triggers the production of collagen and elastin. This is why many have credited this device for clearing their skin! Keep reading for how to use the PMD and my personal experience with the product.
HOW TO USE THE PMD
The PMD Personal Microderm can be used once every 6-7 days. It is important that you are giving your skin a full week to rejuvenate before the tool is used again. Because the top layer of skin has been removed, this time between treatments is to recover and regrow new skin cells.
There are different discs ranging from ultra sensitive to very intense depending on your skin sensitivity and desired results. The device instructions show to start with the white disc (the most sensitive) and practice on your arm or leg before using on your face.
Begin by cleansing your face and thoroughly drying your skin. Next, plug in the PMD device and begin with the white disc. Make sure you hold your skin taunt and smoothly glide the device across your skin in an upward motion. Do not apply pressure, and do not stop or remain in one spot. You should only do one pass per area. After you’re done, be sure to wash the cap and filter and replace the discs after every 3-4 uses. You will begin to see results after 8-12 weeks!
MY EXPERIENCE
I am two weeks into using this product, and it has already become a vital part of my skincare routine. I use the PMD at night after showering and cleansing my skin. My skin was pretty red after my first treatment, but it died down within 10-15 minutes. Be prepared to break out after the first few treatments if you have acne prone skin or clogged pores. Personal Microderm removes the top layer of dead, dull skin cells freeing the trapped pores that may be lurking underneath. I had a ton of little bumps come to the surface after my second treatment, but they disappeared within four or so days.
I am overall so impressed with the PMD Personal Microderm PRO. I watched a million Youtube videos before trying it out for the first time because I thought it would be difficult to use. That was so far from the truth! After practicing for a minute on my arm, I was good to go and felt completely confident using it on my face.
